Nghiên cứu sản xuất chế phẩm sinh học từ cây thảo dược để phòng trừ dịch bệnh trong nuôi trồng thủy sản theo hướng an toàn sinh học đang được quan tâm. Hoạt tính kháng khuẩn của chín loài thực vật hoang dại hoặc trồng phổ biến ở huyện Vĩnh Thuận và An Biên, tỉnh Kiên Giang được khảo sát và sàng lọc. Chất chiết từ lá Bình bát (Annona glabra) có hoạt tính kháng khuẩn cao nhất, đạt mức nhạy đối với Aeromonas hydrophyla, Streptococcus iniae và Vibrio Parahaemolyticus (đường kính kháng khuẩn > 14 mm). Thử nghiệm xác định nồng độ ức chế tối thiểu (MIC) và nồng độ diệt khuẩn tối thiểu (MBC) cho thấy cao chiết lá Bình bát có khả năng diệt khuẩn đối với cả 3 loại vi khuẩn trên. Thành phần có trong cao chiết lá Bình bát gồm có phenols tổng là 119,5±2,2 mg GAE/g, flavonoids tổng là 256,4±1,8 mg QE/g và alkaloids tổng là 137,2±2,3 mg AE/g. Nghiên cứu cho thấy lá Bình Bát là một trong những nguồn nguyên liệu tiềm năng để sản xuất chế phẩm phục vụ xu hướng nuôi trồng thủy sản an toàn sinh học.
