Nghiên cứu tập trung vào việc nhận diện các hợp chất mang khung cấu trúc xanthone có khả năng ức chế protein wMUS81 — một nhân tố quan trọng trong cơ chế bệnh sinh của ung thư. Bộ cơ sở dữ liệu gồm 3000 dẫn xuất xanthone đã được sàng lọc ảo bằng kỹ thuật docking phân tử trên đích sinh học mục tiêu. Kết quả đã xác định được ba hợp chất tiềm năng có ký hiệu 481, 697 và 724, với ái lực liên kết cao với wMUS81. Đáng chú ý, hợp chất 697 sở hữu các đặc điểm cấu trúc đáp ứng tốt các tiêu chí về dược động học. Kết quả thu được định hướng cho các nghiên cứu in vitro và in vivo tiếp theo nhằm phát triển các hoạt chất tiềm năng này thành liệu pháp điều trị ung thư dạng uống hiệu quả.
