Abstract

Given the fact that teachers, learners and learning content are the three fundamental elements of the teaching process, curriculum or learning materials are supposed to be the means of connecting among these three basic elements. Choosing the right curriculum for the learning content will determine the effectiveness of the learning objectives. However, there are few sources of textbooks for learning Chinese - Vietnamese or Vietnamese - Chinese translation in Vietnam, causing many difficulties for the teaching and learning process of Chinese translation. The paper has adopted qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as conducted statistics research on the current situation of using the current Chinese translation textbooks, and did a survey of students who are third-year language-major students at the School of Foreign Languages - Thai Nguyen university. From the surveyed results, the paper also proposes some solutions on building a structure of Chinese translation textbooks in the direction of developing translation competence in order to improve the quality of training in teaching and learning Chinese translation at School of Foreign Languages - Thai Nguyen University.
