Abstract

In the history of nation-building and defense, the Vietnamese people have produced many great names, both national heroes and great thinkers. Nguyen Ai Quoc overcame many contemporary patriots to come to Marxism-Leninism, thoroughly solving the crisis of revolutionary lines of patriotic movements in the early XXth century in Vietnam. His Marxism-Leninism is not only the propagation and dissemination of progressive ideas of the classics but has been developed according to Vietnamese reality. His thought, from a true patriot to that of a Marxist, his patriotism unified with Marxism-Leninism and became the pinnacle of Vietnamese thought in the XXth century. In this article, the author approaches the research mainly by document research method, historical method, logical method, analytical and synthesis method. The research results not only contribute to highlighting Nguyen Ai Quoc's thought transition from patriotism to Marxism-Leninism but  also draw out the meaning and lessons of that ideological shift for the current Vietnamese revolutionary cause, proving that the ideological shift that He chose is correct.
