Điều tra cây thuốc và tri thức y học cổ truyền có vai trò quan trọng trong khoa học và đời sống. Nghiên cứu này tập trung điều tra các cây thuốc bài thuốc, định danh các loại cây thuốc được đồng bào dân tộc Thái và H’Mông sử dụng tại Sơn La. Nghiên cứu áp dụng phương pháp đánh giá nhanh có sự tham gia của người dân (RRA) và được thực hiện từ tháng 7/2023 đến 12/2023. Kết quả cho thấy, tổng số 87 loài thuộc 81 chi, 50 họ, 3 ngành được ghi nhận. Các địa điểm có hệ số tương đồng khá cao, ngược lại, hai cộng đồng dân tộc lại có hệ số tương đồng thấp. Các nhóm bệnh về tiêu hóa, u bướu, ung thư, tim mạch và an thần có hệ số đồng thuận thông tin cao. Các kết quả này sẽ là cơ sở để thực hiện các nghiên cứu về hoạt tính, hóa học và có thể đóng vai trò thúc đẩy để khám phá các loại thuốc mới có nguồn gốc thực vật.
