Abstract

Cham Chu Nature Reserve, Tuyen Quang province is known for its rich and diverse flora and fauna. However, there has been no research on the fish composition of the Lo River basin in the reserve. Fieldwork conducted in October 2018 and April 2019 at 22 sampling sites with altitudes ranging from 17-678 m published the first list of fish composition here with 51 species, belonging to 37 genera, 18 families and 8 orders. Of which, Cypriniformes is the most diverse order with 8 families, 26 genera, and 30 species. The study updated and supplemented 14 new recorded species belonging to the Lo River ichthyofauna, of which Neolissochilus benasi belongs to group I and Hemibagrus pluriradiatus belongs to group II according to Decree 26/2019/ND-CP of the Government, Leptobotia elongata, Cyprinus carpio, Pseudohemiculter dispar, and Oreochromis mossambicus are at level Vulnerable (VU) according to the IUCN Red list. Neolissochilus benasi and Opsariichthys minutus are the two species with the widest distribution range. Streams habitat at 54 m and 610 m above sea level were most diverse, with 10 species recorded. The above information is important data for the conservation and sustainable development of local aquatic resources.
