CHARACTERISTICS AND PROPERTIES OF SOIL FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN HUONG SON DISTRICT, HA TINH PROVINCE

Abstract

The study results showed that, there are 6 groups with 13 soil types in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. Of which, there are 4 groups with 8 soil types are used for agricultural production such as fluvisols group, haplic acrisols group, yellowish red soil group and valley soil group. The largest area is yellowish red soil group with 78,083.87ha, accounting for 71.19% the natural area of the district; fluvisols group has the second area with 9,875.97 ha, accounting for 9.0% and the lowest is valley soil group with 247.78 ha, accounting for 0.23%. Properties of the soils are very variable. Most of the soils are acidic to very acidic, the surface nutrient content of the soil ranges from medium to quite, CEC and total cations exchange are low so that base saturation is very low.
