Abstract

This study presents the results of updating, supplementing and determining the types of reptiles and amphibians in Na Hau Nature Reserve, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province. With seven direct field trips from 2022 to 2023 and analysis of 126 specimens, the research team compiled a list of 59 reptiles and frogs belonging to 49 genera, 20 families, and two orders. The Squamata was the most diverse with 16 families and 33 species. The family with the most species was the Colubridae with 5 genera and 6 species and the Hylarana with 3 species. Our team recorded seven families and 36 species of reptiles and amphibians (including 19 and 17 species respectively), updated scientific names for species, varieties and families. Further more, it was anticipated in this reserve that seven species would be at risk, while eight species would become endangered, and one would be critically endangered. Besides, seven species were found to be restricted from exploitation and used for commercial purposes. In future studies, the authors will continue to study the behavior, growth, development and reproduction of some reptiles and frogs in captivity with conservation and economic value in Na Hau Nature Reserve.
