KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN WITH DIARRHEA, AT EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Objective: To assess knowledge, attitude and practices of caregivers taking care their children with acute diarrhea. Population and methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on a population of 145 caregivers. Results: The study showed that: The age group for acute diarrhea was 12-36 months (66.2%), Male / Female ratio 1.16. Ranger of caregivers taking care their children with acute diarrheal disease, prophylaxis, treatment and home care, use of ORS and low-grade diarrhea medication were 11.7-39.3%. There were 22.8 % the practice of using ORS and hand washing. there were 29.7% the understand of disease spread; However, there were 46.2% perception of dange about acute diarrheal. Conclusion: Knowledge, attitudes, practice of caregivers children with acute diarrhea are low.
