Abstract

This study investigates the influence of community-based tourism on the quality of life of residents in My Hoa Hung commune, located in An Giang province, Vietnam. The research applies a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with 120 local households and qualitative interviews with community stakeholders. Results show that the tourism model has brought substantial benefits, including increased employment opportunities, higher household income, improved housing, and better access to public services. It also enhances cultural preservation, strengthens social cohesion, and promotes environmental awareness through education and improved waste management. However, the research identifies several limitations, such as uneven benefit distribution, underdeveloped tourism products, weak transportation infrastructure, and limited foreign language skills among residents. A detailed Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats analysis was conducted to propose strategic solutions for sustainable development. The study also acknowledges the potential presence of positive bias in survey responses due to social desirability or high community expectations. Overall, it affirms the tourism model’s role in rural development.
