Abstract

The purpose of this article is to assess the current status of digital transformation in agricultural development in Vo Nhai commune, Thai Nguyen province in recent times in order to propose policies for digital transformation in the agricultural sector of local authorities. The article uses the method of collecting primary information to assess the current status of digital transformation from the perspective of the government, professional agencies, and the expectations of the government and professional agencies in the digital transformation process of the agricultural sector for some key crops. The results show that the digital transformation process in agriculture in Vo Nhai commune is still in its early stages, fragmented and lacking in system. Digital technology applications have not been widely deployed in the value chain of agricultural production and consumption. Most farmers and cooperatives still apply traditional farming methods and have not had access to digital tools such as production management through software, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, electronic traceability systems, or Big Data analysis. Digital transformation has only been implemented locally in some pilot models, is experimental and has not been able to be replicated. The results of the article help professional agencies to refer to and propose some orientations for applying digital transformation in agriculture in accordance with the specific characteristics of the locality.
