Abstract

Analysis results of PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) content in fly ash of power generation incinerators operationg in Vietnam and China are used to forecast the PAH content in fly ash of the treatment plant Bac Ninh daily-life solid waste because of using the same technology of burning garbage to generate electricity and have the same mechanism of forming fly ash. Data collection and synthesis method were mainly used in the study. Some first comments are made: There is existence of most types of PAH in fly ash at Bac Ninh factory. The PAH content will be relatively similar to the analysis results available at Can Tho factory and some factories in China. All 04 PAH indicators with comparison standards are forecasted to be below the threshold of QCVN 07: 2009 / BTNMT. However, if Naptalen indicator, are forecasted to be in a rather high limit from 1930-1949 mg/l, if compared this result with PAH standards in soil of some advanced countries, this content has the form of hazardous waste. This is basis for determining the type of waste in order to have appropriate treatment and management measures.
