HIGHWAY 3 UNDER THE FRENCH COLONIAL PERIOD (1897 – 1945)

Highway 3 (or Route 3) starts from Ha Noi, runs through Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan, goes to Cao Bang. Road 3 plays an important role in the political, economic, cultural and social activities of the Northeast region in particular and the whole country in general. French Route (1897 - 1945) was known as Route 3 (Route coloniale No3) - one of the French colonial routes opened for the purpose of ruling and colonial exploitation in Vietnam. On the basis of the route from Thang Long Citadel to Quang Uyen (Cao Bang), there were feudal dynasties of Vietnam and France, upgrading the quality of the road into a colonial road. Colonial road No. 3 was renovated, renovated and built in France since the late nineteenth century. Since 1912, with the investment of the Indochinese budget of France, the No. 3 colonial road was rapidly expanded and asphalted. The route ensures transportation activities in the area running through and connects with other routes in the Northeast, other areas across the country through the center of Hanoi has role and double impact on our country and France.
