Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the history of smart home development in the world, the basic structures of smart home control, with technological criteria and smart home control mechanism through analysis and evaluation of the published research works and the products of well-known firms such as: Lumi Smart Home, Bkav Smart Home, TuyA Smart Home,... In addition, this paper focuses on establishing an illustration of technical problems for application-oriented smart home to provide a new approach for training of students majored in Electrical Engineering at technical universities in Vietnam. This is to help students to gain experience from practical knowledge and to know how to configure as well as operate smart home devices of the brands available on the market. Moreover, the analysis and evaluation of the advantages of those products compared to products in teaching and training have been proposed. Therefore, it can be said that the approach of this paper is completely consistent with the current trend in the field of training Electrical Engineering students in Vietnam.
