Abstract


Riddle is a very unique kind of folklore activities that have existed for a long time. There are a number of studies on riddles. The similarities of those researches have pointed out that riddles aim to entertain and help people learn about the world around them. Aiming to study the unique feature of composition methods, as well as to point out the needs of living and enjoying riddles in cultural life of ethnic minorities in the Northern mountainous region, we mainly used such methods as statistics, analysis, comparison, interdisciplinary. The results showed that riddles method and folklore performance environment reflected a vivid, unique and diverse picture of the landscape, people and things of the ethnic minorities. Thereby, it contributes to exploiting and preserving the folklore capital of the northern mountainous ethnic groups in general and the riddles genre in particular.
