ASSESSING THE AGRICULTURAL LAND USE CHANGE UNDER THE CLIMATE CHANGE CONTEXT IN GIAO THUY DISTRICT, NAM DINH PROVINCE

In recent years, climate change has become a big concern in developing countries all over the world, especially in Vietnam. The study analyses the impacts of climate change on agricultural land use in Giao Thuy district – Nam Dinh province, a coastal district of northern Vietnam where so many natural disasters hit annually. Besides collecting the secondary data, interviews were conducted to find out adaptive measures. The upward trend of severe weather phenomena, for instance the increase of annual temperature, averaged precipitation total.. contributed to the decrease of agricultural land area, the reduction of agricultural productivity and quality. Farmers have applied some measures to adapt to climate change and got some expected outcomes. However, due to the variable of climate, low-income agricultural activities, the households often find non-agriculture jobs to maintain the life.
