Abstract

The aim of this study was to select and purify the indigenous rice variety Te meo in Son La province. As a result, a comprehensive table of 33 morphological descriptors of the Te meo Son La rice variety was constructed by screening 200 individual samples. In the first screening season, we selected 44 (out of 200) individuals at G0 generation with agronomical traits and yield components within the range of screening to develop into G1 populations. Based on the phenotyping and genotyping results, a total of 10 (out of 44) individuals from G1 generation were obtained to construct G2 populations. We then selected 8 (out of 10) G2 individual lines, including TM1-12, 21, 42, 55, 60, 125, and 127 to produce breeder seeds. The purified Te meo Son La rice variety exhibited a good and stable nutritional composition and quality. Taken together, our findings could provided important facts for the conservation and development of Te meo rice in the local areas.
