Abstract

This paper presents an experimental study to evaluate the effect of vibration on friction reduction. The influence of ultrsonic vibration along the sliding velocity on the dry frictional force between high speed steel and aluminum has been analysed. A model of the friction coefficient in the presence of ultrasonic vibration has been developed as a function of sliding velocity. The results have been used for studies on the active effects of vibration assisted drilling.
