Abstract

The study objective was to describe the group discussion activities of medical students in the organ system module in 2023. The research method used is cross-sectional descriptive. This study was conducted with the participation of 520 second-year students at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy based on an online questionnaire. The results showed that: 59.0% and 17.5% of students could collect information as decently as and better than their teammates; 60.4% and 21.9% of students had presentation skills as decently as and better than the others in the same group; and 53.1% and 21.5% of students could apply information technology as decently as and better than other students. When studying in class, 40.4% of students had a good level of presenting ability and 12.1% had an excellent level of presentation ability; 38.7% and 8.8% of students actively participated in class discussions at a good and excellent level, respectively. There were 50.4% and 26.0% of students who were satisfied or very satisfied with the teaching methods of the lecturers during the discussion. Thus, the students actively discussed lesson preparation before and during class. The group discussion method based on the clinical case study in the organ system module has improved the second-year medical students' ability to receive knowledge, synthesize information, and develop teamwork and presentation skills.
