Abstract


Today, the exploit and use renewable energy sources to replace fossil fuels that are depleting and polluting the environment has become a popular issue in many countries of the world. Vietnam has a great potential for renewable energy, especially wind energy and solar energy. However, wind power and solar power always fluctuate due to weather and environmental conditions, so when they participate in the local grid (microgrid) can cause grid instability, sometimes causing errors grid. This paper presents the structure of the Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) and proposes effective ways of using them in microgrid systems as an energy regulator. The results of the analysis show the role of FESS and their operating principle in the microgrid.
