CHU LAI'S NOVEL "CHI CON MOT LAN" – SOME COMMENTS ON ITS CONTENT AND ART

Abstract


The research object is the novel "Chi con mot lan" by Chu Lai published by Lao Dong Publishing House in 2009. Based on the basic concepts of literary theory, taking the reflection content as the main criterion for survey and classification; this study uses methods such as statistics, comparison, and synthetic analysis of the diversity of topics; diversity and depth in character building; unique storytelling techniques and the subtle, emotional humanistic messages of this novel. In addition, we also applied interdisciplinary methods, placing the research work in a multidimensional perspective from historical, social, and cultural perspectives to see the environment that gives rise to the writer's mental anguish when composing; explain the causes, determine the main emotional tone and the author's realistic writing style when describing. The results of the article contribute materials for research and teaching of modern Vietnamese literature after 1975 on the subject of war and post-war.
