This paper was introducted results that evaluated ammonium removal from aqueous solution by using corncob biochar with modified by HNO3. The method of adsorption batch was conducted to evaluate the effect of several factors on adsorption capacity, including HNO3: 2-10M, the ratio (g/ml) of corncob biochar and HNO3, pH: 4-10, ammonium concentration: 10-60 mg/l, adsorption time: 30-210 min. Experiments was conducted in the mass of corncob and modified biochar of 300 mg/25 ml ammonium solution. The results showed that the optimum condition for making the corncob modified biochar was HNO3 8M and the ratio (of 1:5 (g corncob biochar/ml HNO3). Optimum conditions for removing ammonium from aqueous solution from experiments were pH 8, adsorption time of 150 min. At this condition, the adsorption capacity (q) reached 18.75 mg/g with initial ammonium concentration of 60 mg/l.
