MAIN LIVELIHOOD ACTIVITIES OF HOUSEHOLDS IN DINH HOA DISTRICT, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

The paper presents the research results of the main livelihood activities of households in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province. The survey subjects were 180 households (including purely farming households, mixed households and non-agricultural households) living in three representative communes, namely Tan Thinh, Son Phu and Bao Cuong. The collected data were processed and calculated with some common statistical quantities of the observed sample such as average value (Mean), standard deviation (SD), standard error (SE), coefficient of variation (CV%)…. The results pointed out that agriculture is the main livelihood activity of the local people and the income of the households is mainly from this activity. From analysis of status, the study proposes a number of solutions to improve livelihoods and income for households, including: human resource training, labor, job and vocational training for rural workers; Promoting farm economic development; Development of processing regimes, handicrafts and trades; Promoting the development of the program "One product one commune".
