Việt Nam là nước nông nghiệp với đại đa số người dân sống ở khu vực nông thôn, chính vì vậy xây dựng nông thôn mới là một chủ trương đúng đắn, sáng tạo của Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam. Bài viết với mục đích chỉ rõ sự thay đổi bộ mặt nông thôn và đời sống của người dân huyện Yên Sơn kể từ khi thực hiện Nghị quyết 26-NQ/TW, ngày 5/8/2008 của Ban Chấp hành Trung ương Đảng (khóa X) “Về nông nghiệp, nông dân và nông thôn” đã tạo động lực quan trọng cho sự nghiệp công nghiệp hoá, hiện đại hoá nâng cao đời sống vật chất và tinh thần cho người dân. Với phương pháp nghiên cứu phân tích, tổng hợp và so sánh, bài viết đánh giá được những sự đổi thay trong quá trình xây dựng nông thôn mới ở huyện Yên Sơn. Bài viết khẳng định nông nghiệp, nông thôn ở huyện Yên Sơn phát triển theo hướng tăng năng suất, chất lượng và hiệu quả; kết cấu hạ tầng kinh tế - xã hội nông thôn được tăng cường, góp phần thúc đẩy phát triển sản xuất và từng bước làm thay đổi bộ mặt nông thôn.
