Abstract

The operculate snail genus Platyrhaphe Möllendorff, 1890 (family Cyclophoridae) is comprised of terrestrial cyclophorid snails, which are found in Southeast Asia, China, and Japan. This genus occurs most abundantly in limestone areas. In this study, four species are accepted within the genus Platyrhaphe from Vietnam, of these, three can be endemic to Vietnam, including P. conula, P. leucacme, and P. vatheleti. In addition, for the first time, data on the operculum of Vietnamese Platyrhaphe species is provided. The Platyrhaphe is characterized by a shell dextral, small to medium size, conical with raised spire, and many radial ribs appearing on the shell surface; operculum round, peristome usually single and not open; umbilicus wide and deep, exposing all the whorls; the operculum duplex, thick, in which the outer surface consists of many anticlockwise limestone lamellae, with the central nucleus large, round and deeply concave.
