CdSe nanocrystals are synthezised in the simplest octadecene-oleic acid reaction system. In this reaction system, oleic acid is the only ligand bound to the Cd2 + precursor. The effects of parameters such as reaction temperature, oleic acid concentration, reaction time on morphology, crystal structure, absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, Raman scattering spectra were investigated. Oleic acid ligand plays a role the Zinblende structure of CdSe nanocrystals. This result is different from previous study that the oleic acid ligand plays a role in the formation of the Wurtzite structure of CdSe nanocrystals. The results are based on biosensors for pathogenic bacteria detection.
