Abstract

A learner-centered approach was used in the development of the 2018 general education curriculum, particularly the Vietnamese language curriculum. Understanding Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary is always of utmost importance among them. However, both teachers and students always view teaching and mastering Sino-Vietnamese language as a challenging undertaking. Therefore, how can we improve the efficiency of teaching high school students Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary? We will concentrate on resolving the issue of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary instruction in the sixth-grade literature curriculum from The knowledge connection with life series. In order to provide guidance for improving students' ability to use Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary, the study used analytical, statistical, classification, and comparison methods to survey and identify the features of the Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary system in the sixth-grade literature textbook. It also sought to identify common challenges encountered during the teaching and learning of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary. The findings in this research allow us to underline once more how crucial it is to create efficient teaching strategies that will improve the ability of students with Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary and support their overall language and cognitive development.
