Abstract


Assesing the current professional competence of the Northern high school PE teachers is of extreme importance as they are at present required to be not only PE knowledgeable but also capable of solving educational situations, organizing physical activities, mobilizing different educational components, assessing students’ abilities in all aspects as well as understanding well about the educational environment. The compiling of a competence profile for the Northern high school PE teachers would provide bases for the design of PE pre- and in-service teachers training,  therefore enhancing the quality of PE at high schools in the area.
