Abstract

Adinandra glischroloma belongs to the Adinandra genus, Pentaphylacaceae family, and has various medicinal properties. Extracts from the leaves and stems of this species contain bioactive compounds with pharmacological value. This study aims to isolate, sequence, and analyze the matK gene region of the “Sum lông” species collected in Lao Cai province to determine its genetic relationship with other species in the Adinandra genus. The results show that the matK gene region, with a size of 683 bp, was successfully isolated. The nucleotide sequence of the matK gene region in Adinandra glischroloma showed a high similarity with several species in the Adinandra genus, most closely related to Adinandra millettii and Adinandra bockiana. The species of the genus Eurya have a close genetic relationship with the species of the genus Adinandra and Cleyera. The matK gene region sequence is suitable for use as a DNA barcode for species phylogeny studies and to determine the genetic relationship between species within the Adinandra genus and other species in the Pentaphylacaceae family. The research results contribute to enriching the genetic data of A. glischroloma, supporting studies in evolutionary biology, molecular taxonomy, as well as conservation programs and the sustainable utilization of rare and valuable plant genetic resources at the molecular level.
