Abstract

Managing attendance in extracurricular classes poses challenges due to flexible schedules and locations, often leading to errors and potential fraud. This paper presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of a no code electronic attendance system developed using AppSheet with Google Sheets as the backend. The global positioning system is used to verify student location within a 100 m radius, requires real-time photo capture during check-in, and applies session-based controls to prevent late or fraudulent submissions. The methodology includes system architecture design, technical criteria definition, and a one-month pilot with classes of around 30 students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. Data such as timestamps, images, and coordinates are automatically recorded and verified. Results show a 75% reduction in attendance errors and a 72% decrease in check-in time, cutting manual roll calls from 6–8 minutes to 1–2 minutes per session. User feedback highlights system stability and satisfaction, confirming the feasibility and scalability of no code solutions for flexible education and related fields.
