A STUDY ON MEDICINAL PLANTS DIVERSITY IN CUC DUONG COMMUNE, VO NHAI DISTRICT, THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

This paper presents a study on the diversity of medicinal plants in Cuc Duong commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province. The results showed that the composition of medicinal plant species there is moderately rich and diverse. Many of the medicinal plants have been recorded. Out of them a total number of 234 species belonging to the 186 genera, 82 families of four divisions of vascular plants (Lycopodiophyta, Equisetophyta, Polypodiophyta and Magnoliophyta) are observed. In which, the division Magnoliophyta has the most abundant medicinal plants with 222 species (94.87%), 176 genera (94.62%), 72 families (87.80%). There are 35 most diverse families out of 82 medicinal plants in the study area (42.68%) are found. 10 genera, which have from 3 species or more, out of 186 genera that can be used for medicine are listed (5.14%). The medicinal plants belong to 4 main forms: herbaceous plants, woody plants, shrub plants and climbing plants. Among them, herbaceous plants dominate with 95 species (40.59%), woody species is 61 species (26.07%), shrub plants and climbing plants account with 39 species each (16.67%). The survey showed that, there are 11 parts of plant which can be used for medicine and 11 endangered medicinal plants are determined and thus need to be protected.
