ASSESSMENT OF DISTRIBUTION OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION LAND IN TRUNG KHANH DISTRICT, CAO BANG PROVINCE

Abstract

In the process of industrialization, urbanization coupled with population growth makes the pressure on land become more urgent than ever, causing difficulties in land management, especially the great impact on land for agriculture production. Application of land assessment method of FAO (1976), together with GIS support tool, to assess the suitability of land for agricultural production. Research in Trung Khanh district has identified decentralized indicators including soil type, mechanical composition, soil layer thickness, irrigation regime and slope, thereby using the spatial analysis functions of GIS to to build simple maps and superimpose those mono-map maps to build a land unit map of 26 corresponding land units of 155 land lots. Through the survey, the types of land use of the district were identified as 2 rice, colored rice, specialized crops and fruit trees. The development of maps showing the level of suitability for land use types has also been conducted with GIS tools, land use orientation maps have also been developed.
