THE MEANING OF FILIAL PIETY FOR THE FAMILY RELATIONSHIP IN VIETNAM TODAY

Abstract

Filial piety is the leading value of human virtue and the foundation of society. Vietnamese treat the “Filial” with great respect. Filial piety occupies an important role in the family relationship in our country. It is not only a moral standard, a criterion for evaluation but also a principle of action, a principle of children’s conduct towards their parents, grandparents and family members. Before the effects of modern society, in the family relationship in Vietnam today, it is still required that filial piety must be respected and it has to be considered as “the top virtue in others”, is the leading moral value of each member in a family.
