EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES OF COAL MINES AND NON-METALLIC MINERALS OF FRENCH COLONIST IN LAO CAI (1898-1945)

Abstract


Lao Cai is a northern mountainous province with abundant and diversified mineral resources. When capturing Lao Cai, the French colonial government searched for mining resources here. Researching exploration activities of coal mines and non-metallic minerals in Lao Cai, the author uses historical and logical methods, methods of analysis and synthesis to study the following contents: the exploration of coal and non-metallic mineral mines in Lao Cai; some graphite, apatite mining activities in Lao Cai before 1945; suggestions on prospecting, exploring and exploiting coal and non-metallic mineral mines. The above research results are  important basis for the author to study in depth the French graphite and apatite mining activities in Lao Cai (This issue will be further clarified in another article by the author).
