Benzothiazepines with many valuable activities have been paid attention bymany scientists around the world. This paper presents the result of synthesizing some new benzothiazepines from N-methylaniline. α,β-unsaturated ketones intermediates were synthesized by the 3-acetyl-4-hydroxy-1-methylquinolin-2-(1H)-on condensation reaction with aromatic aldehydes. The products were then modified by cyclising condensation reaction with o-aminothiophenol to form a series of new benzothiazepines (4 compounds). The structure of these products has been confirmed by IR, NMR and MS spectroscopy methods.
