Abstract

To describe the clinical epidemiological character of pertussis at children at Bac Giang Women’s anhd Children’s Hospital from 2016 to 2020. A retrospective descriptive study was carried out on 48 children suffering from pertussis treated at Bac Giang Women’s and Children’s Hospital from 2016 to 2020. Results showed the age group of ≤ 3 months was accounted for most cases. The disease occurred around year but concentrated from March to October. The source of infection of the disease was not unclear (83.3%). The day of hospitalization was always in the first week of illness (60.4%). The percentage of pertussis patients in non-severe was 54.2%, in severe form was 45.8%. The most frequent symptoms of pertussis were coughing bout blush, long duration paroxysmal cough and rhinorrhea. Most complications of pertussis in children were pneumonia (87.5%), respiratory failure (43.8%) and hemorrhage (2.1%).
