Based on open source GIS such as QGIS and PostGIS, this research was carried out to build spatial database to support search and rescue at sea. This database included data layers such as Coast Guard, Border Guard, seaport system…; provided attribute information such as name, address, phone... and spatial information such as coordinates, and geometry. It was integrated with the basemap data layers to simulate scenarios that might occur in search and rescue at sea. The results show that the open GIS application ensures the technical regulations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. This will be an important component for building an integrated information system to support decision making on search and rescue at sea.
