In "Sao doi ngoi", Chu Van deployed a topic in accordance with the new reality, in which social problems were intertwined with the contradictions of the epic topic. The novel content described the image of soldiers in and after the war in a positive, realistic and detailed way. In addition, Chu Van soon discovered a dramatic change in place of the people who came out of the war as a winner with a watchful look. He identified and criticized post-war social ills but only in the sphere of their influence on the fate of some individuals instead of facing their existence and development in the whole society. Therfore, it did not really reached the necessary depth. However, the contributions from the predictions in this novel are undeniable.
