Abstract

This study contributes data on the variation morphology parameters of Periophthalmus variabilis. A total of 495 individuals were collected from Duyen Hai, Tra Vinh; Tran De,  Soc Trang; Dong Hai, Bac Lieu and Dam Doi, Ca Mau. Fish samples were collected continuously for 12 months, from April 2020 to March 2021. The analysis results showed the change in fish total length (TL) and weight (W) by gender, season and site. The interactions: gender ´ season, gender ´ site, and season ´ site not influenced the variations of TL and W. Some morphometrics and meristics like ED, DE, BD, HL, HL/TL, BD/TL, DE/HL, ED/HL varied with season and site, but not gender. These parameters of P. variabilis were not affected by the interactions of gender ´ season, gender ´ site and season ´ site. The findings were helpful in fish identification and ecological adaptation understanding.
