Abstract

Primary signet ring-like cell carcinoma of prostate is a rare tumor with confusing histopathological features. The diagnostic goal is to determine this variant based on histopathological criteria and the results of staining by immunohistochemistry with PSA-specific antibodies of the prostate gland, to know tumor progression as well as behavior in clinical treatment. We used descriptive study to report a rare case: 87-year-old male patient with diagnosis of primary signet ring-like cell carcinoma of prostate in Hospital of Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy and review in the literature this tumor. The results showed that the histopathology after laparoscopic resection on this patient had 30% tumor cell like ring-cell with eccentric nuclei, immuno-histochemical stained with PSA’s positive result. Conclusion: Primary ring-like cell carcinoma of the prostate is a rare variant with distinct microscopic features. According to the literature, patients are often in advanced disease stage, with a short survival time, and therefore need to be treated aggressively and following closely.
