Abstract

The article analyzes the current situation of medical solid waste management at 3 medical facilities: Hanoi - Thai Nguyen General Clinic, Central General Hospital, An Phu General Hospital. The author uses survey and survey methods to collect information, identify specific solid waste generated by collecting samples, weighing, measuring and monitoring the evolution of generated medical solid waste and the process of treatment of each research facility. Research results show that the source of medical solid waste generation comes from professional and daily activities of medical staff and patients' family members. The volume of daily-life solid waste and hazardous medical solid waste at medical facilities are different, the volume of hazardous medical solid waste is much larger than the survey and interview with medical staff. at each research facility. The collection, storage, transportation and treatment of medical solid waste are carried out but not in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health. In order to well manage medical solid waste at research facilities, it is necessary to apply a number of solutions synchronously, such as: policy solutions, economic solutions, treatment technology solutions and solutions on propaganda and education.
