Abstract

Machining gears on the hobbing machines is based on the principle of repeating the intermeshing of the screw-gear transmission. Therefore, the kinetic link between the milling cutter (acting as the screw) and the workpiece (acting as a gear) must ensure the proper movement of the transmitter. To ensure this precise kinematic relationship, it is needed to select and adjust the necessary kinematic chains according to the machining processes. Adjustments in these kinetic chains on the hobbing machines use an alternative gear mechanism. Determining the number of teeth of replacement gears to ensure the correct gear ratio can be calculated by many different methods. In this paper, the machining process of straight gears with the prime number of teeth larger than 100 is presented by ultilzing the computer in calculating and adjusting the kinematic chains of the machines.
