Abstract

The report represents the results researching the ability to treat swine farm wastewater treated by biogas by horizontal sub surface flow constructed wetlands (HF) in pilot model in Thai Nguyen province. The model include: a wastewater tank (24L), HF1 planted Cyperus alternifolius LxBxH = (1.05x0.3x0.6)m, HF2 not planted tree LxBxH =(0.6x0.3x 16 "> 0.5)m. Material filters concluded filter gravel (d=1-2cm) and support gravel (d=2-4 cm). Flow rates were 12 L/day and 6 L/day into HF1 and HF2 respectively. The model was operated from 02/10/2018 to 30/11/2018. The average values of pH, COD, NH4+, PO43- of wastewater into models were 7.04±0.18; 701.76±33.21 mg/L; 740.67±18.57 mg/L; 56.58±4.11 mg/L respectively. After 47 days operating the constructed wetlands reached stable removal. The average values of pH, COD, NH4+, PO43- in wastewater treated of HF1 and HF2 were 7.2±0.32;  219.36±8.77 mg/L; 428.30±3.00 mg/L; 31.62±1.79 mg/L and 7.2±0.23; 404.57±5.57 mg/L; 503.67±3.16 mg/L; 37.38±2.49 mg/L respectively and the average removals of COD, NH4+, PO43- were 69.03%; 42.76%; 43.28% and 42.88%; 32.72%; 32.99% respectively. HF planted trees archived higher removal than HF not planted trees with all analysis parameters.
