THE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCY OF NOMINATED MEDICAL DOCTORS GRADUATED FROM THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY 1991-2015

Objectives: To describe the professional competency and some related factors of the noinated medical doctors graduated from Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy 1991-2015. Materials and methods: A cross- sectional study applied with 223 nominated medical doctors who are working in 9 different provinces. Results: The rate of male/female = 1.6/1. There are 15 ethnicities. The majority of those are Tay, Dao, Mong (70.9%). Self- assessments of competency are Good (60.54%), no Weak category. There are 5 levels of management staff, in which 39.46% are mostly medium, 8 weakness are rated (3.59%) (p<0.01). Gender, ethnicity, university degree, and place of postgraduate learning are not related with the competency of nominated medical doctors. There are significant differences in the degree of post graduate education (p<0.05), the year’s experience groups tend to be higher (p=0.09). Conclusion and Recommendation: The professional capacity of nominated doctors are quite good. There will have further qualitative research proposing solutions to this problem.
