FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT WITH SHIFTING LABOUR STRUCTURE TOWARDS INDUSTRIALIZATION IN THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE OVER THE PERIOD OF 1997 - 2016

Abstract

Since the reestablishment of Thai Nguyen province (1997), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and foreign capital sector have been performing an important role in the process of socio- economic development, especially in the process of industrialization and modernization of the province. Many studies showed that shifting labor structure is one of the basic criteria to measure the process of industrialization, modernization and FDI which related closely to the process of labor restructuring.

Based on the secondary data collected mainly from the General Statistics Office, Thai Nguyen Statistical Office, the article uses the descriptive statistical method and the correlation analysis method to analyze thel situation of FDI, the process of shifting labor structure according to economic sectors and the relationship between FDI and labor restructuring in Thai Nguyen province during the period of 1997 - 2016.
