Abstract


Mesona chinensis Benth. is a herbaceous plant that brings us many useful products, such as jelly powder, beverage products, extracting active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry, etc. This study was conducted to determine the optimal planting density for intensive farming of Mesona Chinensis Benth. Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province. The experiment was planted in the summer-autumn crop of 2019 with 6 density formulas that was denoted as MD1 to MD6; 100,000 plants/ha (50 x 20 cm), 80,000 plants/ha (50 x 25 cm), 100,000 plants/ha (40 x 25 cm), 125,000 plants/ha (40 x 20 cm), 133,333 plants/ha (50 x 15 cm), 166,667 plants/ha (40 x 15 cm), respectively. The results showed that the plant height, leaf yield, and economic efficiency of formula 3 were the highest. In particular, the 3rd fomula has the plant height of 57.53 cm and around 7-8 branches/plants. It was the highest in stem yield, reached to 65.33 tons/ha and an economic efficiency of 89,608 million VND/ha.
