Abstract

Through the systematic study and application of exercises in athletics teaching and training with the aim of improving the achievement in middle distance running for athletics-intensive students in Faculty of Physical Education,  Thai Nguyen University of Education -as well as bringing efficiency to the teaching and training process for students, we built a system of 17 exercises to develop endurance in teaching middle distance running.  The experimental research and evaluation method were applied with a control group (taught by the old method) and an experimental group (taught according to the system of exercises) for 3 months. The evaluation results show that the 7 steps on the spot is 0.63 m; running 200m, 400 m and 800 m higher, respectively 1.07 seconds, 1.36 seconds and 0.51 minutes with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Thus, the systematization of exercises increased achievement higher than conventional teaching methods and lecturers of Faculty of Physical Education have agreed to put a system of 17 exercises to develop endurance in teaching middle distance running for students.
