Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the psychological difficulties that cause psychological difficulties for first-year students at the Forestry University. In this research, we surveyed 283 first-year students of Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) through the questionnaire survey. As a result, VNUF’s first-year encountered psychological obstacles in studying activities (including psychological fear of making mistakes in studying, feeling depression in facing difficulties and excessive anxiety about learning). Substantial causes of these problems are lacking proper learning methods; a large amount of difficult knowledge; the students’ individual problems, such as shy, self-deprecating…; lacking suitable methods of using the textbooks and references. From these findings, the article proposes some recommendations to the university and first-year students themselves to reduce psychological difficulties in learning activities.
