Abstract


The objective of this research is to describe characteristics of clinical and subclinical broncho-pneumonia of children from 2 months to 24 months at Lang Son general hospital. A cross-sectional description was used on 155 pediatric patients diagnosed with broncho-pneumonia treated at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital from August 2021 to February 2022, face-to-face interviews combined with patient inquiry and medical examination. There were 63.2% boys, 36.8% girls, rate male/girl: 2/1; the average age of 12.2±6.9 months, of which 42.6% age group of 2-<12 months, 57.4% age group of 12-24 months; 64% Bronchopneumonia were moderate, 35.5% Bronchopneumonia were severe, 76.1% has not used antibiotics before. Common clinical symptoms: respiratory tract inflammation (95.5%), cough (93.5%), poor appetite (76.8%), wheezing (67.7%), pulmonary rales (83.2%), rapid breathing (36.1%), chest indrawing (33.5%). Subclinical anemia were 43.8% Hb decreased, 65.1% white blood cell increased, 54.1% NEU increased, 71.2% increased CRP, and 76,2% chest X-ray showed major lesions were an anatomical infiltration of the lung hilum. The rate of bronchopneumonia in men was higher than in women, which was more common at 12-24 months of age. Common clinical symptoms include cough, fever, wheezing, rapid breathing, poor feeding, and rales in the lungs which are the main signs in the diagnosis of pediatric bronchopneumonia. The subclinical increased the rate of leukocytosis, %NEU, CRP, and infiltrative lesions according to the anatomical umbilical cord on the chest X-ray.
