THE IMPACT OF THE STRATEGIC OFFENSIVE IN 1972 ON THE REVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF SOUTH VIETNAM

Abstract


In 1972, the South Vietnamese Liberation Army launched a strategic offensive throughout the South Vietnam battlefield, causing the Saigon army to suffer a lot of damage and weakness, fundamentally changing the battlefield situation in South Vietnam, creating a favorable position and force of South Vietnam revolution. Through historical, logical, analytical, document-research methods,... the research results clearly showed that the process of the South Vietnamese Liberation Army conducting a large-scale strategic offensive on the battlefields of South Vietnam in 1972 won decisive victories, creating positive impacts and influences on the revolutionary development process of South Vietnam. The content of this article clearly revealed that the victories in the 1972 strategic offensive by the South Vietnamese Liberation Army not only opened a major turning point in the Vietnamese people's resistance against the U.S. for national salvation, but also dealt a strong blow to the U.S. strategy of “Vietnamization of the war”, greatly contributing to the signing of the Paris Agreement in 1973, marking the development of the position and strength of South Vietnam revolution, and also creating favorable opportunities for South Vietnam revolution to develop, move on to complete victory afterwards.
